20 years ago, January Jacobs went missing and was later found in a ditch a few miles from her home. It was a tragedy that devastated the small town and captivated the entire country. Now, a few miles from January's home town, another little girl has gone missing...and everything starts to seem very familiar....
Margot Davies was January's friend when they were growing up. She spent a lot of time at her Uncle Luke's house and January's parents lived just a few minutes away. Now, Margot moves back to take care of her Uncle and she can't help but investigate into what really happened to her friend, all those years ago.
Ashley Flowers has written a fantastic thriller with All Good People Here. The chapters are split between Margot in 'present day' and Krissy, January's mother, in 1994 right as January is missing. The story unfolds naturally, each layer unfolds, peeling back another twist in this complicated and exciting mystery.
It's clear that the influences from this story come from a few high profile cases, namely JonBenet Ramsey, however, the twists and turns and, in particular, the end and afterwards make this book a total original story.
Ashley's flair for storytelling is natural, anyone who has listened to any of her podcasts would be able to tell you this. This book is another example of her talent.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.
***If I had to add one bit of criticism, and it's so, so, so minor... there's a comment in a 1988 flashback, where Dave mentions he got in trouble his sophomore year for listening to Nirvana. Nirvana didn't release anything UNTIL 1988 and the likelihood of a kid in the middle of Indiana getting access is slim to none. ***
